I have a opportunity to purchase this MS66+ 1882-s PCGS / CAC Morgan Dollar . Should I pull the trigger on this Morgan ?

Is he/she selling it as an Error? Looks like a "MAD" error after a closer look

 

I'll say about $100 of that asking price is the sticker. I'll have to say no, I wouldn't pay that.

No one else is why should you?

 

Auction archives show that untoned MS66+ CAC 1882-S Morgans have been selling for $300-$400 over the last year. And while PCGS thinks this coin is high end for the grade, and CAC thinks it is an "A" coin, the photos show a coin that is very generic in nature. I don't see anything about this coin that would make me believe that it is superior to any other MS66. Yes, the cheek is very clean, but a near MS67 should have a very clean cheek. I would only pay full retail for a coin like this if something about the coin really blew me away. Since you are asking for our opinions, it is probably pretty safe to say that the coin did not blow you away at first glance. I would pass.

I see them for $350 for $375 in the same grade minus the CAC sticker so I agree with eddiespin.

 

I'm not so sure it better than a 65 !
