    Hi Everyone,

I'm debating on whether or not to buy the coin listed in the link below:

    http://www.eurocollections.com/store/product.asp?id=6417

I like the design but I'm looking at the price compared to weight of the coin. It weighs 14.14 grams which is a little under 1/2 ounce. The price is pretty close to what you would pay for a full ounce of silver and that doesn't even include shipping or sales tax that I would pay on it.

I know it's a proof coin but with the price of silver I'm sort of hesitant on buying the coin. I want to get a coin with a nice design but that is going to not cost too much over spot. What do you all think?

    Thanks!!!

i would not buy it but that has nothing to do with its silver value. i just dont like the design. if you are wanting to buy just for bullion there are better options

It depends, if I saw it in person and liked it, sure I would buy it.

You might get lucky if your local dealer picked it up for something back of melt and let you have it for melt. That is how I bought much of my Mexican collection

Hmm, that is a collector coin, not a bullion piece. So of course you will pay more than its intrinsic value. Guess that, in your situation, it would make more sense to have a look at the various silver bullion coins, and buy one of those. In Europe that could be the Austrian Philharmonics pieces for example ...

Awesome coin. Being as it isnt just a bar of silver, you are going to have a premium above silver price. The question is do you think its worth it. Thats a piece you buy because you want it, not as an investment type thing.
