over the past few years palau has issued some crap masquerading as coins this has got to be the worst yet........................
edit: Just wanted to add. To each their own. I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying it. Some people collect cupid stuff, ya know? It certainly isn't for me.
I do collect some Palau coins but i wouldn't buy it, i stick with palau coins for maritime life protection coins (features: Shark, Dolphin etc).
No, I would not buy that coin. I rarely purchase NCLT coins and on those occasions when I do, the design has to be a whole heckuva lot nicer than that!
Won't buy it either. Mostly because I collect coins from here (Europe) but also because most or even all of those "Palau coins" are created and marketed by major coin dealers/distributors and will hardly ever show up in the, errm, issuing country. Then again, others may well find them attractive. See TheCoinGeezer's sig - "De gustibus non est disputandum". True. Here is another Palau piece, in a similar style: http://www.coin-invest.li/products/downloads.asp?id_programm=412 Christian
as one poster has already said some of the issues from palau have been passable (ocean life) i even bought one from the wwf at a fund rasier, but this type of issue makes a mockery of out hobby.
I agree that its a pretty ridiculous coin. I also like how pretty the NCLT maritime issues were, and considered buying some, but thought twice about it. I believed if we start going down that path of colorized coins we may up where we are with this "thing". Not saying I was right, just didn't want to support colored coins, odd shaped coins, 3 dimensional coins, and other things. I do not judge anyone on what they wish to collect, seeing how old coins by themselves are a fairly odd thing to collect, so more power to anyone who likes these NCLT, they are just not for me. NCLT for me sucks the life out of the history of the hobby, as the items were never meant to circulate as coinage. Knowing that, there is no cultural interaction with the coins, no possibility famous people used them as change, and the like. Just me though. Chris
I do buy Non Circ Legal Tender as long as Commemorative coins looks decent, focuses on worth while subject (not fantasy or media related) and i can get it for a good price (makes a good alternate for bullion).
