I have searched for any such irregularities to no avail, and I don't want to be a nuisance, but can anyone tell me if this would be classified as an error coin?

In my opinion this coin looks like it was very lightly cleaned.. I see no error or variety.

Thanks aicgsgrading. The coin is still in the us mint set box it came in. Doesn't look like it's ever been tampered with. What I was looking at was part of the relief of the Lincoln Memorial on the left wasn't fully stamped.

By the picture I cannot quite tell so question for you

Is the spot in question just missing the frost or is it actually missing metal?

If it' s just missing the frost I would say no and it was more than likely caused from a polished die

If it's missing metal then I would say defective planchet or a strike through

I think a little area of frost is just missing. I would not call it an error...more a result of the proof die showing some wear. IMHO, this actually decreased desirability of the coin.

Thanks KoinJester. It actually appears to me that a portion of metal is missing. The beam on top of the pillars does not go all thee way to the end.
