Welcome Gory! The whole in your coin is in a spot that may make it difficult to full pin down the doge under while the coin was minted. On the obverse, St Mark is blessing the Doge, who is kneeling before him. To the right of the Doge you can see his name. I can easily make out the last name which is "Moceni'" which I believe would be one of the doges with the last name "Mocenigo."

There were seven different Mocenigos between the 16th and 19th centuries. From what I can make out of the first name, we have "A.O __). The clear 'A' suggests it is one of the doges name "Alvise" (there were two), but there was also an Alvise Giovanni from 1763-1779. If that 'O' is a 'G' then that may be your guy, but I can't tell from the picture (and again, the hole is in an inconvenient spot).

I'd also warn that these were heavily imitated. This could be a copy of a Venetian ducat, but I am not knowledgeable enough about these to know. The style of the design doesn't look quite right to me, but I have mostly looked at ducats from the 13th-16th centuries, so if this is from the 18th century, then the style may well have evolved.

Actually had a quick look on CNG's archives, and they have a clear example of the obverse with the full name as "ALOY" which is for Alvise III, 1722-1732. Style looks the same too!

You'll not the price it sold for - this is for a coin which is in much better condition. I'd say maybe half that for yours?

Hi. I think I found your coin in my 18th Century 2002 Krause world coin catalog.

    FR#1379 Italian States/Venice
    Zecchino-denomination
    weight-3.494 g. .9990 gold
ND=No Date (1722-1732) Alvise Mocenigo III
grade/value the values could be higher than my 2002 Krause catalog
    VG-$60.00 F-$80.00 VF-$120.00 XF-$300.00
not sure what your coins grade is and I am not sure how much value will be taken off because of the whole in it ???
still an intersting coin and that it is made of gold.
wait for more experienced Italian coin collectors opinions...
