I just purchased this coin on ebay for $19.99 shipped on a make offer auction. I don't have a bunch of silver dollars but I like to pick one up now and then. Seller did not offer his opinion on grade. Let the pics do the talking. What grade would you call it just from the pics. Do ya think $19.99 was to much. You won't hurt my feelings. LOL. This old man is trying to learn all the time and the help I get from fellow collectors on this forum is greatly appreciated. Yes, I do collect on the low end. Have fun all.

High VF, old cleaning. Not a bad price.

I think that it is genuine, which is big plus these days with all of the Chinese counterfeits floating around. The sharpness grade is Vf-30, but it was cleaned, probably a long time ago with an abrasive. The reason I say that is that there appears to be a lot of fine hairlines which are indicative of a fine abrasive, like silver polish. As such the coin lacks eye appeal, but for $19.99, including shipping, it's not the worst deal in the world.

Cleaned huh? I hate that, but if you can't afford to buy the certified pcgs coins, it can happen. Still like it better than a piece of junk silver of the same weight. LOL. This will be the oldest silver dollar in my collection and I am still happy with it. Thanks so much for the information folks. $20.00 won't break the bank. As far as genuine, I only purchase from ebay sellers that have 100% positive feedback and are in the U.S.A. That theory may not be foolproof but it is the best I can do. I Sure as heck ain't going to buy from China. I'm still learning on this fine forum. I think I will start asking your opinions before the purchase, not after. Duh

I like it, Gunner. I think you did good on the price, and as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters.

When I was dealer, there were lots of common date Morgan Dollars in certification holders at inexpensive prices. The dealers were ready to sell them, because they don't have lots of buyers coming out of the woodwork, BUT the coins were Mint State and had no problems.

I'm sure that this material is still available at the shows. They might be in boxes that say things "any slab $25" "or $35" or something like that. These certified coins are not great investments at the moment, but they do look nice enough to bring some collecting pleasure.

    Just a thought.

The price is fine. This is a common date. If it hasn't been cleaned, it may
    top out at $25.
Silver has been in the $15-$16 range for a long time. When it goes up.
(In the future it will. How long it will take, who knows.) The value of these coins will go up. But numismatically, I don't think it will as it is a common coin. Almost 15 million minted.

As others have said, it has been cleaned. As far as the grade details, I'd call it at least XF possible AU details. The coin suffered from a weak strike and appears flat on the breast feathers and on the hair above the ear. The tops of the eagles wings and wing tips look very sharp with good detail remaining, which is why I would call it at least XF details.
