I just got my hands on something really weird. I collect a lot of Morgans, and I picked up a small bag of random-grade dollars at an estate sale. Most were fine, some were bold. Nothing really special. But when I got them home and looked through the bag, I found two overlapping Morgans that were stuck together by a bullet hole. The bullet had punched through both of these coins and made a kind of funnel that now connects them. These are technically worthless, but I like them, as they have a unique "cowboy" charm.

    Sounds kinda cool

I just can't imagine why they used silver dollars - I mean such big targets. I used to use dimes :D

I think they probably weren't planning on shooting these things. Maybe this was the result of a REALLY old AD. The hole looks to be .45 of an inch. Common bore diameter way back when.

Oh. And another coin in the bag is baddly dented, like it was hit by the slug after it passed through the fist two. I think these were all in the same bag and someone shot the dang bag.

A "Wild West -Cowboy" type museum would probably love to have them!

The possee fired on the fleeing bank robbers. The crook was saved by his bag of stolen silver.

I'm thinking they were in a bag in a basement and some young ones fooling around with a revolver probably shot it, not knowing what it was.

Or they were fleeing bank robbers.

Very cool indeed. Now you need to go out and buy an old bag, shoot it with a 45, store it with the coins and tell the kids a great story ;-)

I do too, but I turn them sideways so I can only see the edge.

Huh sounds like someone was playing with a pistol and used the Morgan's as targets. Hopefully the coins will help you complete your collection :D

We could specualte all day long on how the coins got the hole in them.

Getting a little off subject here but speaking of shooting, I also do some online gaming it helps me unwind after a long evening, (hence the unique screen name :D ). And so far my best online shot is 2317 meters using a .50 cal sniper rifle.

Dimes thats too big I use a .22LR Rimfire case fired of course pushed in target board. Just a little round circle. If your brave use a live round at 50 yards. Make a nice bang!!
