Can anybody tell me if I should spend $85 dollars on this coin?

RedBook Prices the 1892 barber at $75 dollars for Au-50. I say go for it, but from those pictures it's hard to tell if it is cleaned or not. What does the coin look like on hand?

The coin has been cleaned. I would estimate the value around 45-50 dollars. I would pass on this one.

I'd definately wait for a better example that wasn't so harshiy cleaned , for $85 you can get a lot better example . By those pictures I'd say it's a XF-40 JMO

    Jersey,

Coast to Coast coins is a huge company and if they can't provide better pics I'd pass on ANYTHING THEY OFFER.

Both of those coins look cleaned.

    The barber dime is horrible.

Find a better dealer with better pics then ask again.

My humble opinion but don't waste your money dude.

Did a little surfing on their site - some pictures are good and some are just like these. To me the prices were a little high, but not to bad for a dealer. I also would not agree with their grading on some of the coins, but with these coins and these pictures I would avoid them.

difficult to make decision based on photo, I would want coin in hand for inspection before purchase. the coin looks great, possibly some brush marks on reverse? photos can be decieving, coins can have minor rim dings, minor flaws that photos fail to capture. Coins can also be better than photo makes them appear. sorry , I can't honestly advise. >>>>>>> ozarktravler

By these pictures I can't tell , but i'll guess no , if it was it was done pretty good , if you have the coin in hand look for the original luster that you would see on a coin , swivle or turnit side to side in the light , the luster shouldn't be all the same , sort of like the cartwheel effect on a silver dollar .

I would pass on both coins.

I would pass on anything offered by said dealer. I purchased Civil War era coins from them years ago and promptly determined on arrival that they were egregiously over-graded and returned for a refund.

Yeah, I think that consensus here is that their coins , well, suck. You won't know what you will be receiving.

Both look cleaned to me. I wouldn't buy from coast to coast.

Can anybody tell me a good site to go to to buy Coins that range from AU-50 to the highest grade? I'm looking for some old date coins with amazing conditions. Please don't give me sites that will make me sell my car :).

Sheesh, that No cents is strange looking.

I wonder what they were asking for it?
And what grade they called it?
