Is this a serial number worth keeping? 1$ bill Series 2006 From NY Serial number- B 00001408 c ? Thanks
Its not CH CU Theres plenty of crispness left, no major folds, no tears, pretty nice How much of a premium do you think there is?
right now, might not be a huge premium if any. But, with 4 leading zeros, it will carry apremium down the road. It wont be as much as 3,2, or certainyl 1 non zero digit, but will still carry some premium. I bought a note with a serial of 00001600 a couple years back, graded, for about $100.
there would be no doubt in my mind about this, I almost peed my pants at 4000. Plus.. its only a buck!
I'm not overly informed reguarding bills so whats the big deal about those serial numbers you guys have mentioned??
well, Im sure numbers will give you the exact chance of getting them, But the chance that you find a note that is a radar or a repeater is pretty slim, so they usually bring a hefty premium
yup, thats right. And theres alot of them there. go to eBay and search "American Bill low serial number" see your results and observe the high bidding. you'll be astounded
snaz, radars occur at in interval of 1 in 10,000 repeaters i think can occur more often. but for low serials ... think of how often the serial of 00000001 occurs in a 500,000,000 total mintage
Always hold on to those low series issues. That's a kewl note to hold on to. And it won't take too much out of your spending budget to hold it.
Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by "repeater". If you're strict about it and you only accept the traditional ABCDABCD format, then they also come up once in 10,000 serials. For either a radar or a repeater, the first four digits can be anything you want, and then the last four digits don't have any choices at all; they have to match the first four, either forward (for a repeater) or backward (for a radar). Then one in 1,000,000 serials will be both a radar *and* a repeater, of the form ABBAABBA. And of course, one in 10,000,000 will be a solid, of the form AAAAAAAA. These serials were included in the 1-in-10,000 figure given above for radars and repeaters individually; the chance of finding a serial that's *just* a radar, and not anything fancier, is slightly lower than that.
I was never strict about repeaters in the sense you mention Numbers. heck even if the repeater is ABABABAB i still consider it a repeater. i never even considered that a repeater would have to be 2 sets of 4 numbers, but like grades, different folks like different things. I guess it is similar to the way some folks require a radar to include the letters on either end of the serial.
