I have a penny my mother gave me there is no year and I dont know when or how she got it. You can see it is a penny but it is mostly blank. I am new to collecting and I am curious if I should bother having it professionally graded or if it is just something neat to own.

You have what's refered to as a "saddle-struck" (double struck - both strikes O/C) Lincoln Memorial Cent.

Given the condition and that no date is visible (something that typical benefits, or increases its value), IMHO, the coin isn't worth getting certified.

A 2x2 would make more sense.
