    Hello everyone.

I just recently acquired about 100 coins from all over the world, dated from 1850's to 1940's. I'm really excited to look through these and see if there are any hidden treasures. Are there any web sites and/or books that specialize in world coins? Many of the coins are from Spain, Germany, France and Canada. I'm trying to learn about them and determine rough dollar values. Also, I would rather not take them to a dealer, at least for now. I really want to do my own homework.

Over the next few days I will scan some of the coins and post them in the "What's it worth" section of this site.

    Thanks for your help.

Krause is the leading World Coin Book. There are several volumes covering a handful of centuries. They are big volumes and a bit pricey. For anyone studying the darkside, they are a must have.

You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins (by Krause) for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
Collector value depends on date, number minted, mint mark (if any), and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning.
