So this is the crazy story I made up in my head - You see the US Mint asked some carpenters to nail some boards up on the ceiling of the minting facility for some unknown reason. More than likely, one said ..."We can get big money from the collectors for this..I'll make it and you smuggle it out". Some day the Chinese will figure out they can make these and better, if they already haven't. Such might slip by the counterfeiting laws.
I heard about these cents struck on nails years ago but this is the first time I've actually seen one.
