Hello All New to this forum and would like to know the approximate value for this coin. Its part of the wonders of the world series in 2002, Taj Mahal, limited to 3000 pieces. Pictures attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It was produced by a private mint and may only be worth the price of the gold melt, which is $301.80 today. The coin weighs 10grams.
Coins struck by private mints are usually worth only the bullion or melt value of the metal, plus some premium if it is a particularly beautiful or unusual design.
Then again, the Pobjoy Mint for example is also private, but when they make "legal tender" pieces for (or in the name of) some country, we consider them to be coins. In this case, Mayer made a series called "Wonders of the World" for Bhutan, and the Taj Mahal was the second issue: 250 ngultrum silver (2004), 1000 ngultrum gold (2002 - this one), and 3000 ngultrum gold (2002). My coin catalog, from 2014, lists a price of €600 but that may have changed in one direction or another. Christian
Admittedly the country name is hard to read. Especially because the OP rotated the coin (90° CCW) which makes it even tougher ...
