Wondering if this coin is silver ?

    My only foreign coin , I'am wondering if its silver ?:confused:

    no, its either km #54 (copper-nickel) or km #54a (nickel bonded steel)

    Thanks Noost, its a large heavy coin about the size of a U. S. Half Dollar.

    My pleasure! It has the sailing canoe-Takia, which I think is pretty great. THe Cu-Ni version is 15.5g and the bonded version is 13.43g if you wanted to weigh it. Does it have any special significance to you as it is your only foreign?

    Another easy test is a magnet. The cu-ni won't stick, the bonded steel will.

    Yeah, the Brits have not used even thier adulterated silver since around 1950 give or take a few years. Magnet works well for a quick scan. Traci
