    English note.
Anyone have a resource that can put a price on such an item?
Picture will be posted if you have a catalog and need a look-see.

The value is mainly dependent on whether the note has been cancelled/redeemed or not. Usually fivers from that era either had "cancelled" written across the face of the note, stamped on it, or the signatures of the bank directors cut out to invalidate the note. If the note has an attractive vignette and is not plain like the BoE notes it is worth more. English banks were a bit of a problem in the 19th century, they enjoyed largely unregulated note issue with a certain propensity to failing and leaving note holders high and dry without redemption.

Many of these notes are not uncommon today, particularly those after 1870-1910.

    This is not my banknote.
I'm just inquiring for someone in "that other hobby" (stamps).
I think I can make this link work.
Just would like a ballpark value.

Glyn Mills & Company was taken over in 1939 by Royal Bank of Scotland, this note appears to have been paid out - but because of the interest in the bank with it still existing as a part of Royal Bank(now in the British taxpayers receivership) it will have some value. I would recommend contacting Pam West of www.britishnotes.co.uk with this image and details.
