Hey, I like coins that have angeled winged creatures (male or female) and /or myth creatures. What do you have? and what have you seen? Where? (website) Thankx.
The pattern St. Gaudens double eagles have lady liberty with wings. But you probably couldn't get that one..
hamman88, you're right ...I couldn't afford it! Yes I have seen The Mexican Libertads. Those are what peaked my interest in the 'winged' coins. Thanks
Since you like mythological creatures here's a couple with Griffins for you... 4th Century B.C. Panticapaeum Bronze AE21 6.915g 21.6mm Obverse bearded head of Pan (or Satyr) to right Reverse P(Pi not P)A, forepart of griffin left, sturgeon left beneath S 1700; SNG Cop 30 - 31, MacDonald 69; Anokhim 111; SNG BM Black Sea 869 - 871 Pomerania, City of Greifswald AR Gross Pfennig, Struck: 1424-1425 (ref - Jesse 493, S. 4957)
You might want to check out the Australia Lunar series of bullion coins. They have a nice dragon and some other creatures. They come in 1/2oz, 1oz, 2oz, 5oz, 10oz, and 1 kilo in silver; and 1/20oz, 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, 1oz, 2oz, 10oz, and 1 kilo in gold! The silver 1oz coins are about $20-22 each.
anemicoak, thanks to your avitar I've been in the market for the greek for a few weeks. I've senn some nice ones in the $60 range (not as nice as yours) is that a good price?
Greg,so do the coins of the Ionian Islands when they were issued under British rule. ARLroxta, the lion symbol on the obverses & some reverses of Indian coins is actually the Asokan Capital, not a winged lion, even though they are placed back to back. Aidan.
Depends on if you like it or not. It's certainly not a bad price in general. The one pictured above was quite a bit more than that.
