I was very happy to win this one today. I know it is in rough shape but the portraits are very nice imho. Also these are scarce and do not come up very often at auction. I love that it is a true denarius of Claudius but almost as good is the fact that the reverse features Nero as Caesar. Photo courtesy of Holding History Coins Claudius, with Nero as Caesar. 41-54 AD. Not a clue what ya got there dear fellow, but if Tif and Bing chime in you know you have something significant. Love the way youse 'ancient guys' catalog things. Us'uns modern guys lack your old world class.......
I was so tempted to bid on that coin. Decided not to, since I am chasing aes graves this month. But I think those portraits are great -- good win!
I have bought from him a few times, most of the time his prices are fair. Only issues I have had is with shipping, I have had to send reminders just to get a coin shipped.
That's a wonderful dual portrait example, despite being a bit 'rough'. I LOVE the innocent Nero and the noble-looking Claudius!!! I think you did quite well. Congrats @Orfew !!
So the coin finally arrived and I took a new photo. The seller's photo My photo In person, the coin actually looks much more like photo #2.
