The Peace dollar is one of the more beautifully designed coins to me. Heck, it might even spark an interest in folks finally using dollar coins in lieu of bills.
I've got to be honest. I'm kinda burned out on all the "gimmicks" that the mint has been releasing lately: Gold "buffalo nickel" bullion, gold replicas of the mercury/slq/wlh coins. State quaters, ATB quarters, Presidential dollars, Native American dollars. I'm ready to just go back to a simple cent/nickel/dime/quarter/half/dollar P/D/S type of year.
Of course, in my fantasy alternate reality, it would be a nickel/dime/quarter/dollar P/D/S type of year.
I know I was just being silly.. It's like old school buildings that have the following etched in stone - BOARD OF EDVCATION
Absolutely. Perhaps even in both silver & gold (to go with the other bullion replicas of older designs). The OP's post is all it will take to give someone at the mint the idea!
Gosh .. I was hoping to find a youtube typo hit for "we don't want no EdVcation" for Pink Floyd. But society has let me down on that misspelling.
Well heck yeah!!! If the intent is to be a dollar coin I would suspect it would be clad like the Ike dollars. Perhaps the intent is to replace the Eagle bullion coin design if it is silver? But then I am rather in the camp of @midtncoin.... My head rather spins with all the varieties and gimmicky releases the mint has laid on us since the the state quarter run.
I don't mind that kind of commemorative for 100th anniversaries. But there are far too many issued types. For example, the 5 oz. quarter sets? Dumb idea I think.
