Hello, I recently looked through my coins for the first time in almost 10 years. This rekindled my interest in numismatics. Id say before now, the last time I had added to my collection, I was about 10 years old. I am realising that I put together a very impressive collection for only being a little kid at the time. And the folders I used to look at and think of, as almost impossible to ever fill, well they just dont look so bad anymore. Which makes me tempted to start throwing all my BU coins into folders and start on sets that are completely uncirculated. But, I have a bunch of Whitman folders, that I am worried, will tarnish my Silver. I have most of the BU Franklin Halves to fill a folder, and I have All the BU Silver Roosevelts that I need. I also have about half of the Silver Washington quarters needed. These coins, I am tempted to organize in my whitman folders, but am nervous of how time will affect them. Does anyone have any past experiences, good or bad??? I have, Id say about half the coins needed to fill BU folders of Mercury Dimes and Walker Halves(My 2 Favorite Coins), but no worries, I have no plans to put them in a whitman folder. But I would like to get better folders for them. So while Im here asking, does anyone have folders to suggest for BU collections of the Mercurys and the Walkers??? Thank You, Dan Pelletier
Almost everything I've read says that albums can help cause toning. Also you have to touch the face of the coin to put them in which can hurt the coin (& get slide marks from albums that use slides). For BU stuff you want to try & keep nice you could look at Airtite's. They make 2.75x2.75 cards or albums for them.
