Was wondering if someone has any info on this Canada toonie? The core looks to be all copper, but should be yellow alloy, 92% copper,6% aluminum and 2% nickel. Coin dealer thought it might have been heated or ? I heated another toonie to red hot and it still was yellow after. Looked all over the net and can't find anything, can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Color is never a reliable indication of composition

A regular toonie weighs 7.3 grams.

If you can get yours weighed, it might help you figure this out.

From what I understand of metal, some metals are more denser than others and thus weigh more.

From your picture it looks "copper like", but the colour could just be from normal wear and usage.

    Good luck with your investigations.
