Is this some form of doubling on the Rim of the V Cent or did the coin move when it was pressed by the die? It looks like the rim has cutouts in the same shape of the circles and dashes next to the rim. Kind of like a negative film effect along the rim. What would cause this and is this an error? The second picture is a normal V cent. Compare the two rims. The bad rim looks like the pieces were cutout of it like cookie dough.

    Hi,

Your coin is normal for a circulation strike.

    Thanks,

For those of you who don't already know, the "dentils" on the inner side of the rim are actually Morse Code spelling out We Win When We Work Willingly starting with the dot under the left leg of the N in Cents, and reading clockwise from there.

    Folks:
Look again at the rim, on the right side.
You can see indents that seem to match up to the 'morse code' dots.

    Look at the arrows.
