Wierd 1972 Kennedy Half Dollar Error? This Coin Has Strange Marks on the Obverse

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by BridgeTroubledwaters, Aug 5, 2018.

  1. This is a 1972 Philadelphia Kennedy half dollar that has a strange mark on the obverse that seems to blot out part of the I in "Liberty". Has anyone seem anything similar before and know what it is? Is this a mint error and is it worth anything?

Could be a strike through or Damage. Can't tell from your reverse pic, but check to see if there is damage or a flattened look immediately opposite the obverse dent. That would indicate damage.

Even if it's a struck through error, it would be difficult to find someone to pay even a small premium for it

I agree that this is a struck-through error.
