    INCORRECT. This is wide.

    These pictures of coins from pixelated computer screens are in no way capable of allowing any kind of definitive analysis.

    The first pic is clear enough to see the distance between the A and the M, but after that you are on your own…imo…Spark

    There is a die chip, from the deteriorating die, at the base of the right leg of the A which gives it the impression of being a close AM. In reality you have a wide AM.
    These microscopes are fine if you are looking for tiny anomalies etc, but a clear in focus image of the coin and a close up is normally sufficient from a camera or phone posted here as a full image so it can be enlarged.

    @Kristine Garrant

    Always give us the date of your coin. Very Important.

    The terminology is Close and Wide AM
    Not Closed.

    When the M is evenly spaced between the A and the E in AMERICA then it is Wide AM.

    Here is a list on what to look for -

    Nope. I do not give dates unless what I am asking about includes the date. As in the doubling of it. When I give dates people get so wrapped up in those dates that my question gets left unanswered. As this is a learning experience for me and I am trying to match definitions with what I am physically seeing at my desk.

    Ok! Thats what I was thinking, or leaning towards, but I wasn't for sure. Thanks! And my phone takes horrendous pictures, hardly ever coming into focus. And especially on close ups and when u zoom in. Lol. I have had this issue with every Samsung I have ever had unfortuneately.

    Zooming in just pixellates the image more. Getting the coin to fill as much of the screen before it goes out of focus is the key. Then, having the lighting arranged correctly, (flash just washes out details). Lastly, raise the coin from the background with a bottle cap or similar, as long as it is smaller diameter than the coin. This enables the phone camera to focus on the coin and not the background, giving better focus.The best backgrounds are solid white, grey or black for most coins, along with two lamps (having identical bulbs), placed at around 10 and 2 o'clock. When you then download the image files to a PC it is important to crop all background away.

    My suggestion is that you give the date. o_O
    That way it will make it easier for us to determine the attribution for you.
    We have been doing this for many years and there are other clues we look for on certain coins when given the date. Trust me in time you will understand.
    Thanks.

    I have tried. And it failed miserably. Oh yea, and why would I want to make it easy gor ya? . No really. It helps yo have the focus on just the question and what you all see on that alone. As I progress, and things become a little more distinguishable for me I might try again. But for now baby steps. This has so much that goes into it that i have to start by breaking things up. Just think I am trying to learn this all by myself. Its not easy to wrap my head around.
