Hello all! I haven't posted in quite a while, but I'm always lurking. I just got through reading about someone finding their 4th 2000 wide am. I have just recently found only my second 2000 wide am, but I have found 5 of the 98 wide am's. I also have a friend who has found 3 98 wides and only one 2000 wide. On the coin hunting forum on treasurenet I also posted these stats and I had 2 replies from avid penny searchers who have also found many more 98's. One guy said he had just finished a roll of 98 wide am's and has half as many 2000's. I go through roughly about 100 to 120 a week in pennies and I get one 98 every 300 dollars searched and one 2000 every for every 750 searched. I'm still waiting on my 99 wide and a 92, 92d close am. I thought the 98's were more scarce then the 2000's, but that has not been the case with me and my friends on t-net. Anyone else with similar stats. Semper Fi
Hi zmemarine!To date i have searched through around half a million lincoln cents and have found 27 2000 wide am,and just 8 1998 wides.Also 5 1999 wide ams'one of which is on ebay if anyone is interested.'Keep looking for the 1992d close am.I have found 2 of these rare coins.I sold 1 of them last month for $1,100 and intend to keep the other until i am in dire need for money.
Hi zmemarine, Another always faithful here, I too look in rolls and change for these goodies and find only a few of what I am looking for. Sometimes I find something I'm not looking for and that is a bonus like capturing a second luie reading the instruction manual. Recently I found 5 1998 wide AM's in rolls from bank (20 roll search) where two look AU the others are nice but with prints. Recon all banks--ask for used rolls--search and take all prisoners..There Are Two Types of People: MARINES and Those Who Wish They Were. Good Luck in your hunt..
to both of you new to the forum. I've been looking for about 3 months, (not as many rolls as you two) and haven't found any yet but I'll keep looking. Are you two on the east coast?
I go through about $25 a week in cents. I finally found a 2000 wide. My only AM find to date. Not to bad since I'm in Colorado. A lot of coins with a D on them you know!
Hi zmemarine. That was me who posted the 4th wide 2000 am. Sure looks like I'm low man on the totem pole with what the amounts others are finding. There are so many key dates that while looking for them I find a wide 'AM'. Also have one 1999 wide AM too but no 1998 yet.
