Why is this coin so small?

    Hello,
    I have been wondering why this coin is so small(Compared to the coins i find in my lots) if anybody has a ID that would be helpful to! (Its been soaking in olive oil for a few weeks)

    What AE is it?

    If it's a late roman it is a small AE4, probably a mid-to-late 5th century piece. There might be a monogram on the reverse, can't tell for sure.
