Why is 2001 Sacagawea proof so "valuable"?

Can somebody explain why the 2001 Sac sells for so much more than the others? It looks like there was roughly the same amount minted. Were they experimenting with a different composition that year or something?

The proof set runs a little higher in price than most of the others with would need broke to get the proof coins individually

It does make no sense, the mintage figures for the 01 are almost identical to the 02. At this point I dont think as many of the 01's have been broken open for whatever reason. There is no logical reason for it being the price that it is right now.

I'D LIKE TO KNOW THE SAME THING..That's the only one in the set that I don't have. I just hate paying $75. fot it.

There was a thread on this some time back... I couldn't find it in the search though. Basically supply and demand with the twist that many 2001's were, hmm, how can I put this diplomatically... "stored for investment purposes" perhaps?

I have noticed some softness in the pricing on that Internet Trading Community (eBay)... and no shortage of listings of them, either!
