Great coin, great photos, but why put a $315,000 coin on eBay and not Heritage or another higher end auction site? http://cgi.ebay.com/1920-S-20-NGC-M...ash=item20acc2c568&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262
If it's like the coin shop in town , he probably put it on ebay for more exposure. The coin shop in town puts it nice pieces on various sites including ebay. Heritage cut > ebay cut
i wonder what he's asking for postage and packing (handling and shipping), as most of you are american. mike.
why? Easy, they have about $1,000 (for the listing fee) with nothing better to do with the money. okay, I am guess at $1,000 whatever the fee, it is dumb.
I can tell you first hand why not to use Heritage. I consigned a piece of currency to them for their 2008 Sept Long Beach show. While negotiable depending on the value of the item what they think it will bring their basic fees are 15% buyers premium and 15% of the hammer price. The buyers premium hurts the final price as the bidders need to consider this when determining what they're willing to pay it's a potential extra 15% out of your pocket. My item 13196 sold for $55K + BP $8,500 = $63,250 I lost out on $8500 it then took 45 days to receive final payment. http://currency.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=3502&Lot_No=13196&src=pr
My thoughts are it is cheap advertising. Knowing no one will probably bid on it they are hoping that many folks will at least look and see what else is in the inventory or even go to thier website. The high price draws attention. See it made you look. They probably listed it during one of the deals e-bay often offers so it is probably only a 10 cent listing or something like that.
Excuse my ignorance, but what does this mean: "The item pictured is the item you will receive. This item is subject to prior sale via other channels."
