Alright can anybody tell me what is going on with these coins the one is so new I can't imagine how age would have done that to it what could have put those holes not asking for the worth just trying to figure out what happened thanks. There are three coins three pictures to each one
All are environmental damage. It does not take long, especially for cents made of zinc, after 1982 to deteriorate once exposed to the elements. @paddyman98 can show you plenty he has dug from the ground.
Ok I didn't think they were worth even face value, but I was completely baffled over the amount of deterioration. I just found in a roll from bank
Why do nickles turn black. I mean this nickle is just beat to hell, but I was just wondering what makes them turn black
Nickels are made of Cupro-Nickel.. It contains copper. Environmental damage changes the color of the Nickel. Same for clad coins.. Cupro-Nickel Dark nickels and dark clad. All metal detecting finds. Environmental Damage.
My sister had a 5 gallon water jug of cents that was nearly filled. It had been left on an enclosed porch for ten years but was subject to the humidity constantly. You would not believe what a mess these coins were in. I rolled them all for her so maybe some of them are finally making their way through the system. They were for the most part, destroyed.
That's just crazy that it happened so fast like that why would they make our money that way that it's just going to disintegrate in our pockets I got these in a coin roll but I guess 93 is kind of old I hate to think of it that way cuz I was only 23 I don't want to think of the 90s is old LOL I'm grasping man I'm grasping I was hoping somebody painted it or something LOL thank you did you see my newest purchase?
That's crazy. next they're going to let us plan a money tree but as soon as we picked the dollars off of it they're going to dry out and crumble in our pockets giggle
