Why do German proof set prices go up starting at 1995?

    Hi

I collect German mark proof sets (You know the ones in the blue cases) and it seems that starting at year 1995 and until the end of these sets in 2001 the price goes up.
Krause says same coins in each sets prior or after 1995 and same amount of sets issued.

Maybe someone can let me know

    Thxs

Keep in mind that the issue volume in 1995 and 1996 was already considerably lower than in the years before. And as from 1997, no circulation DM coins were made at all due to the euro changeover a few years later.

The issue volume of the annual sets stayed the same, I think (would have to check). But every collector who simply wanted to have, say, a 1 DM coin dated 1999 had to buy a set ...
