I made a $25. bid and got it for $20. Why so cheap? The red book lists it at $45. in G-4. Was I just lucky? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260243370479&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123
I'd say a high G-4 or as high as good will go acorng to ANA grading standards . A good deal indeed . rzage
Nice coin, looks like a solid G-4 to me. I wouldn't go by Red book prices though, they are normally inflated a bit, not very reliable IMHO. Phoenix
I'd say a G, but no better. The rims aren't complete, which is necessary to attain a VG grade. But, for the price, I'd say you still got a heck of a deal. Guy~
Ed, All of the other bidders probably needed to hold onto some cash for gas this weekend! This is the way it is sometimes on eBay, one week you may get it $20 and then the next week it may cost you $35. You received a good deal and hopefully there will be more to come! Frank
Jmo but in the ANA grading book it says for AG ,entire design partially worn away , this coin pretty much has its entire design .:smile rzage
Last december's grey sheet (the most recent I have) gives an ask value in good as $32.00 so i think you got a good deal Richard
As for your original question, I have no idea. If you ever get a clue as to why anything on eBay goes for so high or so low a price, please tell me. I have won coins at 1/2 greysheet and then watched the next one go for 1 1/2 greysheet the next day and even the next hour once.
Yeh, I got into a bidding war with one other person for a pair of OOP books. He won at about $50, about 4 times the cover price. The same sellers put up another pair of the same books the following week and I got them for under the cover price. I guess we were the only two who wanted them. Good thing I lost the first offering.
If I use the Red book. I halve the price and the add 10% for a price I'd like to pay (or less). $45/2= $22.50 +2.25 = $24.75 I'd say you did quite well for yourself. When I use CoinValues they are usually more expensive but they are more current and reflect a highest selling price. So I try and use the same method and adjust it toward what todays Ebay SOLD prices have been for the last few weeks. Then, of course, I try and buy the coin for less. Bruce
Seen many similar. What gets me even more is when there are 4 and 5 bidding over $50 for something, but the next day another sells for $25 and none of the original bidders even bid on it. Where did the other 4 or so bidders go?
I do not see anything wrong with the coin and I would probably go with G4. I'd say nothing wrong with the price. Good job!
