Why are so many people interested in this French bill?

    It is a scarcer date for this type note.

    thanks. i'm clueless about bills in general, much less foreign ones. It is a really attractive note. this would have been about $100 US then? what would this have exchanged to?

    No, because of post-World War II inflation, this bill was worth about $1 US by the end of the 1950's. In January of 1960 they revalued 100 old Francs into 1 New Franc, worth about 20 cents. See this:
