Whose wrapped nickels?

I usually get nickels from my primary bank that come from NF Strings with blue and white. I got this box of nickels from a dump bank and they have no name on them. Are these just generic bank wrapped nickels or are they from a particular company?

NF Strings & Sons sells banking supplies, including coin wrappers. It does not roll coins for distribution.

So the bank I received the NF string rolls from would have received them from whoever supplies their coins who would have purchased the wrappers?

They are really cheap. A lot of rolls tend to come unrolled as soon as I pick them up.

Theyare designed so the merchants can easily open them without banging them on the side of the drawer.

I can see a lot of damage marks due to the crimping machinery which was used to roll the OPs coins. These cheap machine rollers should either be outlawed or retrofitted so they can no longer damage coins. I frequently find coins that have crimping marks on them and I am tired of it. A few months ago I found a nice and better date 1948S nickel in a roll from the bank but the reverse had a fresh crimping mark from one of these machines. It is also irritating when you come across OBW rolls but the end coins have been damaged from these machines. This only happens with rolls that are crimped. It does not happen with coins that are machine rolled in clear plastic. A federal statute needs to be put in place to prevent good coins from getting damaged in the future.

Thank you for pointing that out. I will definitely trade these back in and stick with my primary source. Plus the lady at the bank opened this box before giving them to me which made me mad. I was planning on keeping it sealed for my collection. Oh well I will be dumping most of these tomorrow it looks like.

Thanks for all the info everyone.

IMO its a good thing that they got opened. You would have been disappointed later down the road when you did open it.

Only I wished that the coin wraps I pick up came undone as soon as I picked them up. I would like to say that unwrapping is my least favorite part of the hobby.

Absolutely, Ace. I've got an ugly callus on the knuckle of my thumb where it rubs against half wrappers when I'm opening them.

It got to the point that now I use my knife to slit both corners, unwrap it, and just empty all of the rolls in the box it came in before I start looking through them. So far it has worked well and my poor fingers aren't suffering anymore... :thumb:
