Oh dear. I remember someone (it may have even been the OP) who posted a graffitied flying eagle cent that have been substituted into a straight graded old ANACS holder. I’m guessing this one was put in its holder by PCGS and not a scammer?
I have seen it a handful of times with key date Bust Dimes graded by PCGS. This is one of the reasons they are my least favorite grading service.
Well they will either be stuck with it a long time, or they will sell it to someone that buys based on what the label says.
YUCK. PCGS should buy this back and some of the recent coins I've seen that were straight graded but had graffitti that was so noticeable
And the scratched coins they have let slip into their holders. I have seen countless scratched 1916-D Dimes straight graded. Or how about this 1895-O with reverse scratches? https://m.ebay.com/itm/1895-O-10c-P...241563?hash=item520f5f98db:g:Hf0AAOSwV0NbCgf1
Have a look at this OP. Possible tooling on the reverse around “E PLURIBUS UNUM”........ https://m.ebay.com/itm/1916-D-Mercu...426442&hash=item59128b8035:g:88sAAOSw0F9bmSEo
Or how about this fine example of a PCGS coin? Looks like somebody spilled a coffee on it...... Hell, IDK WTF that stain is, but it sure is not pretty and it sure doesn’t look natural. Still straight graded though. https://m.ebay.com/itm/10c-1895-O-B...057643?hash=item33f42f122b:g:NAMAAOSwx5hblwW3 These are just three of the many examples I have seen of PCGS certified coins that should not be in straight graded holders. Proof they are not as superior as many want to believe.
