What do you mean who, someone who tries to start a bidding war on eBay.

Some unscrupulous person who's looking to make money.

What you do is take a bunch of junk coins, shove 'em all in a bank wrapper, and put 1 valuable coin in the front. Then, you sell that "unsearched" roll on eBay and some poor schmo buy it, thinking hey, there could be 10 more gold coins in there.

Wouldn't it suck if the gold coin was also a counterfeit

Actually some ot the most faked coins in the US are the small gold. Only redeeming factor is most were faked with gold.

That's one of those things that really bothers me because I want to collect small gold coins, but I'm afraid they'll be counterfeits so I'm saving more money so I can get a slabbed one. Instead of unslabbed and possibly faked ones.

The coins are usually problem coins anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if the other side had some damage, a mount removal, or really bad staining or something.
