I was on this form the other day and read that a coin dealer the lost dutchman found a 1871 proof set. That got me thinking did a 1873 s seated dollar survive? The lost Dutchman said he found the set in a box. I went to a coin auction and the auctioneer said he found a 1909s vdb and a 1914d penny in a change jar. Could there be a 1873 s seated dollar in a similar place. What do you think.

Sure it's possible. But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on one turning up.

You could even have one out in your backyard, waiting on the metal detector to discover it. Anything is possible, but just like Doug said, don't hold your breathe.

Anything's possible. I was hoping to find one in our recent bath room renovation of my circa 1987 house.......:)
