Who needs the rip-off 2021 Morgans? The real thing is better.

I won’t even try and get any of the 2021 Commemorative Morgan Dollars, given the US Mint’s incompetent handling of the sale, as per usual. Instead, I went shopping on eBay, and got this beautiful original for less than the cost of two of the reissues. Somebody just had a roll of beautiful 1921 P Morgans graded by IGC. They are all MS 65 luster beasts and available now. I picked this one up, as a best offer. Anybody interested? They are listed now. Seller’s pictures, not mine, as I just jumped on this one, as it was gorgeous looking:

I’ve already got my 1921s. My 1921-D MS-65 is down at NGC getting reholdered and I have my 1921 Peace in my type set so I was fairly happy and ready for a 2021. No dice.

I prefer the ones that are 100+ years old can't believe NGC and PCGS already have thousands of these to be slabbed.

Part of me really wanted to get a full set of the 2021 dollars...but at over $500 it just doesn't make sense. I have no idea how good (or terrible) they will look and they aren't the real thing. I could spend that $500 much better on a real Morgan.

I get the sentiment of what is meant about "the real thing being better" but being these have been produced by the U.S. Mint, the same mint that minted Morgan dollars from 1878 - 1904, and then again in 1921, these are indeed just as real.

There being a 100 year interval between production doesn't negate the legitimacy of them. It'd be like people in 1921 saying 1921 Morgan dollars are bogus because the mint went 17 years between having last minted them in 1904. Morgans from 1921 are considered just as legitimate as those made in 1891 (for example) and no one dares to consider them otherwise. It's the same principle.

You can go back forever and anytime the US Mint falls on their face a memo like this comes out. The truth is that they can't handle these programs. I am lucky, I had already decided that 2021 was my last year for any new mint stuff. They certainly did their best to confirm my decision.

I'd rather blow $85 on two nice low MS 1921s and have something that will hold value and not plummet like a new car driven off the lot. And I'd rather pay a lot more for a nice BU 1921 Peace that will always be prettier than the 2021 overpriced ripoff.

I've only got one Morgan in my collection. It's a 1921 for my Dansco 7070. I certainly don't need fake Morgans from the mint at rip-off prices.
Morgans are ugly as sin and I will happily spend the money elsewhere. :p

I like both Morgan and Peace dollars. When I was young they were still in circulation. Any day, if you had a dollar, you could go in to most banks and get one.

Good thing I wasn't around back then. Would've been tough holding on to all those beautiful Peace dollars :)

I would say that they are not the same for 2 reasons. First, the 2021 coins are not intended for circulation. Second (and admittedly less importantly), the composition is different.

I don't think that the general consensus will be that these need to be part of one's collection to have a "complete Morgan collection." I would put these in the commemorative group.

It’s the same old story going back to the 2011 25th anniversary silver eagle release. They promise to do better but go in the opposite direction.

OK, I'll be the eBay dummy here. I did a search for Redlockcoin ang got no results. How do you find a specific vendor by name on eBay?
