Who likes the Gold Sovereign

    In photos it looks great but once it was in my hand its much more RED than the pictures represent. I am still torn on its look. I really wish it was the size of a quarter to better appreciate the design. Do they produce a bullion version of the double sovereign or just the proof?

    They used to issue what they called 2 pound and 5 pound gold coins, but I don't know if they still do. I haven't checked in years. Some of the older ones are what I would consider reasonable for what you get, but they sure aint cheap by any description.

    They are beautiful pieces and one of my favourite foreign coins. The magnificent imagery of St. George slaying a dragon from horseback appeals to my youthful admiration for knights, castles and the medieval historical period in general.
