I have 3 cobs which I picked up recently. I believe I have secured what info I could from 1, but the other 2, not so much. Is there any way to determine much more than a cursory identification when the weight and general design are the only facts that you have?

    cob 3
    1/2 real? 1.3 grams

Well... Information wise, I am not much help at all. US coins are about all the information that remains in my used up brain pan, but I do love a cob. I was very fortunate to pick this one up off the South Carolina coastline just after hurricane Hugo beat us to bits.

    Interesting coins!

The second one might be a cast, or a very worn coin that might have been a 1 real cob originally. It's hard to tell, but it is odd that one side is smooth while the cross side retains some detail.

The second cob is probably a 1/2 real, but the dies and striking are so crude it is hard to determine the coin's origins, at least for me. These 1/2 real cobs are an area of cobs that have little information compared to their bigger brothers.
