trading 10 eagles and 10 maples, or simply 20 eagles for a tube of uncirculated 1885 o silver dollars? Who ends up better and I don't mean in total oz of silver. What's better to have?
I'd go with the tube of Morgans- silver value is quite close, but the uncirculated Morgans are worth more
well right now with the price of silver at 30, uncirc morgans and even decent morgans tend to sell for more than eagles. But what if silver were at 50.00 would it still be the case that morgans would be 'more'. At 50.00 oz, melt of a silver dollar is 38.60 or so... Right now a touch of numi or history seem to kick in, but at a point, spot will cause silver to be silver no?
I have silver I collect and silver I would sell if prices got high. If I had the chance to convert a tube of my ASE's for a tube of uncirculated Morgans I would. I wouldn't convert all of my ASE's because I'd like to have something to sell should the time arise. A melter is only going to pay you on weight so this is a losing trade from that perspective.
When it comes to BU rolls of dollars it really depends on how the coins look. If they are really baggy I'd pass. If they are just average 62/63/64's your better off with the Morgans.
now what if i said nevermind the BU's.......which aren't baggy at all, or at least not many bag marks, all things considered. I have a hard time wrapping my head around equal cost for 15oz vs 20ozase. I understand the history and numi but if silver gets moving and doesn't come down the generic dollars could simply become the pos....now what about below. Lets try this. Say i could get all the morgans or peace, all day long at 24-25 dollars, which i can, ase's are around 32. Melt is 23.30 currently. Would you still say bu's?? Or would you go with the general morgans or Peace? i appreciate the info since this is quite practical
