$7.00 in a mix of Standing Liberty and Washington Quarters found in a roll today. A Handwrap "dynamite" roll (we have cute names for the rolls around here; paper machine wraps are "Shotgun Shells" and the clear plastic ones we call "Sausages") so it might've been someone taking grandma's coin jar and cashing them in. Standing Liberties are both dateless. Washington Quarters are: 1934, 1937D, 1937S, 1941, 1943, 2 1944, 2 1944S, 1945, 1946, 1946D, 1948D, 1951, 2 1953S, 1954D, 1954S, 1957D, 1958D, 1959D, 3 1962D.
Depositing silver coins is not "circulating" in my book. You got lucky getting the roll before the coins hit circulation. Congrats!
Agree. ^^ I made the original post about it. After figuring out that if somehow you could get everybody to dump every Washington quarter that's ever been made, back into circulation, your chances of getting a silver one would still only be around a 4% chance. Taking into account that they've all been heavily picked over, slabbed, and lost since 1965, your chances were now more like 0.001%. You got pretty lucky finding a roll that some unknowing person cashed in for face at some point in time. I'd like to see how long it took for 5 people to post to this thread saying they found even one silver quarter in circulation, from today going forward.
I can not remember the last time I found a silver coin in circulation and I look closer than most people.
since you are my buddy ill ask you before anyone else asks the offending question. did u walk around to ask if some old person had gotten tricked or callt eh cops to find out missing coins? you know its wrong to take that silver coz i am now not going to get it. there now thats done great find i am happy for you. i dont know when i will find a silver in circulation
Had a customer give me a '46 Roosevelt in change and didn't find it until I was counting the till at the end of the week... Only silver I have seen except for the Kennedy's I have been getting at the bank for which I found a 1964D this week...
No, I mugged her, and stole her shawl as well. But then she jumped back, and beat me with her cane claiming to be a Hell's Granny. encil: Still I gotta wonder how much else is out there.
I ran across silver coins every now and then, but nothing like this. With the economy like it is you may see more of them. I found this one a few months ago. Althrough it is not silver, but you do not find proof quarter everyday either.
Last month I got 2 silvers in one day. The first was a 1936 quarter that I found in the pop machine coin return at work. Didn't buy a pop, but just noticed it as I was walking by. Then on the way home I got a 1952 dime in my change from the gas station. In vegas two weeks ago, I got a 40% silver half from the casino.
well at least u got the coins. now where can i send you so that someone beats u up and i get the siver coins. any ideas?
