I like the top one, too! The bottom one looks like you messed with the white balance. Or, maybe you messed with the white balance on the top one. In that case, I still like the top one. Chris
I would personally say the bottom one. There's a little less shadow on the inside rim. The top one seems a little more darker rim. Still a little bit of glare on the back of the head. I personally feel it could use a little bit more soft light. But I personally have a hard time with my own photos. Lighting has always been a challenge to me. With the equipment I have to work with. But overall it's a decent photo. If I may asked one question you have a grayish silver coin. Why a gray background? Do you not think a different background would bring out a different appearance of the coin.
I like the top one a little better. It shows off the highlights of the luster slightly better and gives a better overall contrast of the devices and bust. The bottom is just a little flat for me. But I like contrasty images, not too contrasty though..
I'm guessing the background is neutral grey and therefore the lower set is more accurate. Most people have their monitors and TV's set WAAAAAAY too blue.
Without seeing the coin, can't really say for sure. The bottom ones are far more yellow than the top ones - but is that accurate to how it looks in hand? Both of them are underlit - the dark areas at k3 and k9 need some light. How many lights are you using? Try adding another light, or rotating the lights so that the whole coin has some light.
