Hello. This set of 4 coins shows the obverse representing Emperor Licinius. I just request your assistance to determine which of these coins represent Licinius the Second, if any.
Thank you in advance . Charles Licinius4.jpg

Great. I learnt that the coins of this Emperor are usually considered as rare. Is that really true?

In general, no. There are a few rarities among his types, as with any emperor, but overall his common coins are quite common.

Nope, my example was $8. He is fairly cheap, as is his dad.

The second coin from right to left, of Licinius 1, has the following attached reverse.
Does it have a specific meaning or interpretation? Charles Revlic.jpg Revlic.jpg

Seriously, when the obverse legend reads CONSTANTINVS AVG how do you even suspect Licinius? The legend reads (in genitive) DN CONSTANTINI MAX AVG or 'of our lord Constantine the great Augustus'. The center is VOT XX or 'having taken the vows of office for a period of 20 years'. At the bottom is the mintmaek for Thessalonika.

For separating the two Licinii: Licinius I was always AVGustus at the end of the legend while Licinius II was never promoted and is shown as NOB C (noble Caesar) although sometimes that was abbreviated to just NC.

DS So the two coins to the far left and to the far right represent Emperor LiciniusI
and not Licinius II. Thus Mat and JA were seriously wrong . Indeed this hobby is a lifetime study.

I suggest limiting post to one coin so there will be less chance for confusion.
