I have two 1940 2 Kronur coins from Iceland. I'm trying to condense my collection so I have to let one of them go, but I'm not sure which one I should keep. Maybe Iceman57 can help me. This one: or this one:
Not much in these conditions. About the price of a cheeseburger without the fries and soda. I no longer put a direct monetary value to my coins. Instead I value them at what they would be worth in converted US $ value to a direct trade for goods and services.
Another value point would be the cost of obtaining cash from an ATM machine that is not associated with my bank.
I'd keep the second one. But honestly, the 1940 2 Kronur isn't that hard to find in a little nicer condition. I'd get rid of both and find a higher-grade example.
If you need to fill a "gap" in your collection now, pick the second one. Otherwise ... keep on looking for a better preserved (and yet affordable) one. Christian
I would keep the second one..but like mlov43 said there are little nicer ones out there ...they are worth 10 dollars in Unc ,,but they are few and in between. I have one that graded ms-63 and has some nice color toning I have been looking for a nicer one but have not come across one yet. Now there is a silver looking 1940 2 Kronur but its a Specimen coin / off metal,,, it looks like a different metal alloy,,It was graded SP-65 by PCGS. It came from the Ex-King Norton Mint collection Here is a pic of the coin. And here is my other Specimen made in the normal alloy that was picked for the coinage...its a SP-65 You can see the big difference in color of the metal.
I would like to see a pic of your 1940 2 kronur ....its always possible that your 2 kronur maybe a coin that some how excaped the King Norton Mint into the coins struck for circulation.....Now that would be a find.
I am in the process of moving homes, but as soon as I can find the box that has all of my coins I will send you a photo! a find is what I need
