Which forum should I use to post about varieties, old and new? (I'm sure there have been threads about this topic.)

It's probably the "Errors" forum but with sometimes heated discussions on some sites about "Errors" vs "Varieties" and how they're not the same, I thought I'd ask.

Didn't want to put a burr under anyone's saddle!!

    Thanks in advance.

I think most varieties are error coins. Go for the error forum.
I also think those 'Burrs' are already under some saddles whether you post a tread or not.

Is the coin US,world ? If US or World post in those threads.... a variety isn't an error....so you wouldn't post there.

When in doubt, use the coin chat threat.

But it really depends on the variety. But as stated, most varieties go in the error forum.

That's my take on the comparison as well. Most sites have a forum for each category so I thought it was safer to ask than risk the full "wrath and fury" of putting it in the wrong forum. LOL

Ah no varieties are NOT Errors they are varieties so they do not get posted in mint errors.
It be nice if you would only field a question that you know" the correct answer,"and not post misinformation to a legitimate question.

Again errors and varieties are two different things. Varieties are not posted in errors threads.

Doubled dies are considered errors to some and varieties to others. I usually post DD's in the error forum, but some may disagree. But a 1970 s sm. date will go in coin chat or US coin forum.

RPM's are also considered "varieties" yet they always get posted in the error coin forum. I'm not spreading "misinformation" that's just what I've always observed people do.

And your 16 years old ,and been collecting how long ? And you're 100% incorrect! "You "may always post variety coin in the errors forums, but again your inexperience ,and not knowing what one speaks.

@Paddy54 . Talk about misinformation. Your just as bad bullying someone or the starting of. Belittling someone in front of everyone should not be tolerated . I don't care who you are.
I've fought my whole life being bullied as well as a family member. So, be nice and explain it to him in a proper way. I know how you are . Not a nice person said by many people closer to you than you think. :jawdrop: Only you can make the change. ;)
    Peace out.

Just create the thread in the Error Coins forum..

Just know that there is a difference between Mint errors and Varieties.

    https://www.pcgs.com/news/coin-error-or-variety

Sometimes I have foreign Mint Errors. I can either create the thread in the Error Coins or World Coins forum. You make your own judgement.

    That's it.. Simple.

    Have a nice day.

That reminds me of a story about rough hips. I was still at Camp Mackall....no, I am not going to continue. I will get in trouble.

Stating someones age isn't belittling anyone ,nor is telling someone who is the100 % incorrect that they are wrong.
Sorry but I do care as do so many members here what information is being posted to be correct.
As far as what other think or say about me... well they are entitled to believe or think whatever they wish..to believe or think....I personally don't care as I do know whom my friends are here, as well those who aren't.
And Im not going to loose any sleep over either!

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'll post in the only relevant forum for this modern DDR, "Errors".

I was trying to avoid a curfluffle because I knew people have their "understandings".

I'm already in the camp that believes they are separate from each other but was hoping I just wasn't seeing the forum for varieties.
(IMHO, "variety" is a little more specific and "error" is a more general term.)

That possibility hadn't occurred to me. Thank you.
I'm just trying to share with people that enjoy varieties.

There's is a difference a mint error is mostly are mechanical mistakes, as varities occurs when the die is being made.
Both are confused at times....and need be understood the difference.

There is no definitive answer Cliff, nor is there any right or wrong answer because there can be too many variables at play. In some situations US Coins, World Coins, Ancient Coins, and sometimes even Coin Roll Hunting may be the better choice for posting your questions. And Coin Chat, well Coin Chat's intended use is the forum section for posting when you don't know where else to post your question. It's kind of the "catch all" section.
