I'm just a noob to a novice on an imperial Roman kick lately and have been picking up denarii of some of the more interesting emperors. Where's your favorite place to shop? I know about V-coins. Can it be more trusted than ebay with so much loose ungraded material? It makes sense that there's a lot of material still around Europe and I think I could spot an obvious fake but not sure if I'd spot a really good fake. I don't know how good they get.

The majority of ancients are "loose ungraded."

Vcoins is a great place to start. They have a code of conduct and you can trust the sellers on authenticity. Price on Vcoins is widely variable. Some sellers set crazy high prices because someone will pay them, so comparison shop across stores. eBay is a minefield of bad fakes, good fakes and lower quality stuff. Only occasionally is a good buy found. I’d recommend staying away from eBay, lots of expensive mistakes to be found there unless you have a good eye… but that being said, many Vcoins dealers will also sell on eBay.
