You don't have a safe. You don't have a house alarm. You don't have a safe deposit box. Where is a good place to hide your coin collection?

Inside your pillow, inside a tissue box, in rolled up socks, in old shoes, under your bathroom sink, tapped to the top of your ceiling fan, if you have a drop ceiling put it up there, pretty much anywhere you wouldn't put anything valuable.

If you have enough for a nice collection, you have enough for a decent safe.

I rented a basement apartment once. I looked in the drop ceiling and saw two rifles up there. They were toys.

You put a jar full of pocket change on the counter next to a smaller jar with your coin collection in it. Chances are the burglar will take the big jar and leave your coin collection there.

An even better idea, Hide you coin box in the dog house, the level of protection varies based on the dog living in the house ie Great Dane=5 stars chihuahua=a good laugh :D

Any thief will tear the place apart. You must find one of the very few places that will not be torn apart and searched. The toilet bowl, with the lid down may also be a good place.

    Do you have renter's insurance?

A safe isn't always the answer unless its so big the thieves can't move it. For example a few years back my grandpa had a decent sized safe with gold coins ect in it and gold pocket watch that was his great grandfathers. The thief took the whole safe.

I have a small safe in my home. It contains only papers, but nothing irreplaceable, and nothing that can be used for ID theft. I think it is a great decoy. If a burglar finds it, he most likely would think he's found the holy grail and won't touch anything else.
