Okay, another week of spending hours sifting through ebay and google product search for steals/deals/and/or just cool items, and I come up short every time!

I never see any "Good" coins or heck, ANYTHING good in the coins or bullion section on ebay all together!

I once saw 8 silver quarters two days ago for 13 bux with free shipping on the BIN but I lost that one moments after wasting time getting ready to bing buy it..RARE FIND might I add.

Why is there so much junk being peddled on ebay? I'd say 95% crap, 5% good stuff.. The prices are whacky and it seems every seller and their mother know how to mark things up..

As Jerry Seinfeld would say.. "What's the deal"?? Or.. more appropriately phrased, "Where's the deal"???

PS: No rebuttals to this please, just solutions.

Yer not finding them because there are 1000's of other people doing the same thing...

Solution-----Surf more, surf later, do more creative searches...and rub as many bald heads as you can for luck.

I picked up a roll of Morgan dollars this morning with not 1, but 4 nice 1899-Ps in it. It wasn't a great deal...but it was a "good" deal.

This Seated dollar was had for $170 ppd.

The good deals are there....but it's awfully hard to find them sometimes.

Here's the 1883 CC listing. The guy listed the roll with a buy it now of 300 dollars, so I did just that....then he emailed me saying "what the *(*& just happened?" He thought he was placing a reserve of 300 on the roll. He tried to get me to cancel the sale, and though I wasn't obligated to do anything....I offered him an additional 80 dollars, which he accepted, so I have 20 bucks per coin invested in this lot.

In case you're wondering just how I can tell the 83CC is in nice condition, I took the jpeg into my photo editing program and enlarged it. The CC mint mark is easy to spot in that crowd, and it just happens to be on the nicest coin in the lot.

There are deals to be had out there, but you have to sift through all the other junk to find them. There were a couple of higher priced VAMs that went on eBay for real cheap, they were unattributed though, so you have to know what your looking for. I cherrypicked a '78 8tf VAM 9 last month off eBay in XF for $30, so the great deals are still out there, at least with VAMs.

I don't care for online sales myself, next weekend look up some flea markets or whatever and hit the road, you can haggle prices in person and usually can find some good deals here and there, get some exersise and have some fun, all at the same time! Good deals are out there, sometimes you have to work for them, sometimes they fall into your lap, having a varied interest helps too,if your looking for specifics it's gonna be harder to find good stuff, wherer as if you are open to any good deals they are gonna be easier to find.

Van Allen and Mallis (Leroy Van Allen and George Mallis). They wrote the Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia on Morgan and Peace Dollars. It's an attribution guide for the Morgan and Peace dollar varieties.

Lol wow, no offense but some of you need to take the cotton outta your ears!

My Retirement does not apply to cheap coins, only high end ones.

So yeah, the weather is still great here in Tahiti.. ;)

The term VAM is an acronym for "Van Allen - Mallis."

    Visit vamworld.com and see some.

Most of the really good stuff is not on eBay. The real good stuff is either sold by dealers at shows or at major auctions. If you want to look at the good stuff, the Heritage FUN auction lots just opened up for bidding!!! Probably the biggest auction of the year so be careful, you may stumble across a coin or two that will bring you out of retirement. ;)

Cool, btw, congrats, you're up to 1,210 ;)

Hey, I'm still waiting to finish sharing my understanding of Lustrous 3 Leggers over the rest! (Yeah yeah, avoid it!)

But yeah, the junk on ebay needs to stop.. Boy, if I could have my wishes..
