Krause lists different mintmarks for many Australian coins, but I can't find them anywhere. They all say KG, but that's not the mintmark. The WWII era coins must have been made in the U.S. and I can find those, but I can't find any others.
It's a matter of dots on the penny and halfpenny coins. The Krause explains what to look for at the beginning of the country listing before the first coin.
Yes. That's Krause. It's easier to see Germany through my telescope from Los Angeles than it is to figure out the mint marks of many a country as described by Krause. Ever tried 19th century French coins? After many an hour you'll be calling yourself Sir Milk of Magnesia and shaking hands with trees.
I don't blame Krause so much as I do Australia. Why can't they just put a letter like most other countries, not a series of dots? With the French marks, they may not make a lot of sense, but at least you can read them, at least the ones I usually see, the Napoleon III era coins.
You could have started your own thread instead of hijacking mine, inheritcoins. Anyway, you can't just give a year, you need the country and the denomination just to start with. I know you want someone just to tell you the answers, but coin collecting is a complicated hobby and there's no way you can realistically expect people on the internet to evaluate your collection. People can look at a few specific coins, but it seems like you have dozens or hundreds, and that just isn't going to work. You need to take it to someone who can look at it in person. If there's a coin shop in your area, that would be your best bet.
