I'm in Shenzhen China today and I haven't yet received any Bust dollars in change. What China city has the coin factory & does anyone have an address? It might be interesting to do a drive by.

Coin collecting is not real big in Shenzhen. However, there are some coin shops in Hong Kong.

    Very best regards,

    interesting hearsay

    Thank you Hobo,

I couldn't visit the factory in Fujian this time. Fujian is about 1/2 way between Shanghai & Shenzhen (Hong Kong). I just spent some time in both locations and even Beijing but I'm back in the States today. Note that I did work with a few Fujian guys while I was in The Philippines this trip. The people from Fujian have a great reputation for being some of the hardest working folks in the world. This is a great trait to have (unless of course if you are making counterfeit coins).

I understand that today it is illegal to make coins of other nations in mainland China. However, if the local cops catch you, then they might just ask you to stop it rather than prosecute & execute you. One friend of mine in China suggests that we continue blogging about the China coin factories & then notify the China government officials of the problem. If the China government realizes our investment potential as rich Americans & learns of our dissatisfaction with the coin factories, then they might take some serious action to execute the owners & close the factory(s).

One non-collector friend of mine tells me that Hong Kong has discontinued their 10 dollar bi-metal coin because of excessive counterfeiting. They now only manufacture the 10-dollor plastic note in HK. This is all hearsay but interesting hearsay.

    Very best regards,

I don't necessarily want China to execute the counterfeiters. Shutting them down would be good enough.

Yeah, I think executing them is a bit extreme. But in China you can't predict what the government will do.

    Counterfeit in China

It is not illegal if the coins are older than 1949 ,I saw this the other day on a documentary.
I do not remember where, but a search should reveal the rules in China.
