Paper currency is totally new to me. My question, given your experience, where do you see the most interest in paper? I have just started looking for silver certificates, and don't really grasp "star notes' etc. I would like to start a collection for a 3 month old grandson. Any suggestions on something that seems to be accelerating in demand, appreciationetc? Thanks.
It is really what interests you, not necessarily what the rest of the paper currency collectors are. There are so many different alleys that you could take with this specific type of collecting. Silver certificates are a great place to start. Maybe you're interested in error currency or unique serial numbers w/ silver certs? Maybe you want to go down the path of Large Size Notes, Emergency Notes, Or maybe you might be interested in Fractional Currency. I suggest you start with a book that gives you an outline of the different kinds of paper money; see what really interests you and then you're free to collect! Greg
There's really no way to know what will accelerate in demand. If we could predict that we could make a fortune. So, the key is to enjoy the hobby and find a niche that you enjoy.
